About
Marita Upeniece
I'm a Latvian/British photographer, based in London.
I work across documentary, portrait and event photography, focusing on gender and identity. I grew up in one of Europe's least densely populated countries, so my projects also often explore the importance of space and place.
Before embarking on a career in photography, I worked in PR for ten years, so have a unique mix of experience in telling stories through words and images. I graduated with Distinction in photography (Graduate Diploma Photography) from London College of Communication, University of the Arts London, in 2020.
